This project was born many years ago. Artist Nadia Molugova has been visiting the Ladjadira Hotel with her family for over 10 years, and each time she has painted landscapes on location during her vacation. Over these years, she has created many stunning views of Cortina.

 

All works were painted exclusively from life, not from photographs, giving these works artistic and spiritual value. 

Plein-air painting, almost lost in our modern world, is a technique that gives birth to paintings unique in their temperament and value. Since no one can ever repeat them, what was painted from life in a moment with cloudy skies or, conversely, in clear weather, will forever remain captured on canvas. All of Nadia's paintings are done in oil. Just as a day that can never be repeated, the combination of colors, weather, a breath of wind, rays of sun through the clouds, so too is plein-air work always unique. 

 

To create views from life, one must possess great skill and a good sense of color. And a painting done from life has a unique quality in the transmission of color, which a professional artist captures very quickly. This plein-air work is painted in about 3 hours, where the composition and color combinations are laid down. And then this work can be used as the basis for creating a large studio painting, but it is unique in itself, as it is unrepeatable. Nadia paints in the alla prima style, which means while the paint is still wet on the canvas.

 

Not every professional can do such work from life, as one must have extensive experience working from life, work in a concentrated and fast manner, and at the same time create a painting. This work is difficult to copy, as the painting is created in various weather conditions. Sometimes it rains suddenly, sometimes there is wind, sometimes midges attack and stick to the canvas, as a memory of what it was like from life, and sometimes sand blows from the beach and mixes with the oil paint. All this can be conveyed by an artist with great experience, and it is difficult for those who work only with photographs.

 

Therefore, this series of unique paintings created by Nadia formed the basis of the exhibition of views of Cortina. And it is of great value precisely because of its uniqueness and originality. Each painting is created from a real view in the city and from a specific point of view. These paintings were created over many years. And we are pleased to present them to the public.
